About COSIS College:
The college of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University is considered one of the leading academic institutions specializing in Islamic sciences in the state of Kuwait.
it was established in the year 1402 AH/ 1982 AD upon the request of the late Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah – May Allah
have Mercy on Him – who issued the High Emiri Decree on 10/13/1981. It was
founded to be the center of guidance for our youth in Kuwait University and a
specialized Islamic Source of Light that beams on those who are interested in further
education of Sharia & Islamic Studies among Kuwait and other Islamic countries and
regions.

sharia sciences, academic research, being a partaker in society and a matter of pride
for its’ affiliates.
Our Mission:
Our college intents to teach the authentic Islamic studies and its’ principles with the
assistance of the latest educational methods. The college aims to spread the Islamic
knowledge across local and global Muslim communities. We work on developing the
academic research in the field of Sharia while also including emerging events and
issues. We look forward to cooperate with our counterparts in the Islamic world
along with coordinating with public and private sectors locally, with the sole
purpose of upbringing graduates that work on meeting society's needs.

The Goals of the College of Sharia & Islamic Studies:
- Schooling specialized graduates in Sharia Disciplines and Islamic Studies to
stay up date with current times. So they can deal with events and issues with
a focused mindset that assists them to handle them in a scientific manner that
can be convincing, interactive, preceptive and aware.

application of the correct scientific methods with the guidance of conversant

1- Bachelor's degree:
The college adopts the course system, where the student is granted a bachelor's degree after completing 142 units of study.

- Comparative Jurisprudence and Policy of Sharia.

- Jurisprudence and Principle of Jurisprudence.
2- Postgraduate Programs:
Master:
1- Master of Hadith and its Sciences program - established in 1414 AH - 1993 AD.
2- Master of Comparative Jurisprudence and Fundamentals of Jurisprudence Program - established in 1415 AH - 1994 AD.
3 - Master of Interpretation and Quranic Sciences program - established in 1416 AH - 1995 AD.
4 - Master of Creed and Contemporary Doctrines of Thought Program - established in 2012/2013.
Phd:
1 - PhD program of comparative jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence - established in 2005/2006.
2- PhD program in Hadith and its sciences - established in 2013/2014.
Scientific Departments:
The college has four main academic departments:
Doctrine and Preaching Islam:
It is concerned with the study of the Islamic faith and the means of advocacy away from fanaticism, heresies and superstitions, and in commitment to the approach of moderation brought by Islam, and building a personality capable of facing the challenges of the times, as well as aims to educate the Islamic masses about the ways and means of calling to God, and preparing enlightened Islamic leaders and cadres committed to carrying the message of Islam and based on clarifying and rooting Islamic values and concepts.
Comparative Jurisprudence and Policy of Sharia:
focuses on comparing schools of jurisprudence and studying political systems from a legal perspective and objectively based on the presentation of various evidence and the statement of the discussions contained thereon with the selection of the most correct ones according to the rules of weighting.
Some of the courses offered by the department also deal with the comparison between Islamic law and man-made laws, especially the laws in force in the State of Kuwait, to highlight the merits of Islamic law and the virtue of its precedence in clarifying the provisions of old and new issues and facts, through the evidence of Islamic law, its overall principles and general rules.
Jurisprudence and Principle of Jurisprudence:
deals with legal rulings and their detailed evidence, teaching courses on the principles of jurisprudence, the rules of jurisprudence college, the science of differences, the graduation of branches on assets, and fundamental studies and textual jurisprudence, an in-depth comparative study with what the Department of Comparative Jurisprudence studies.
Quranic Interpretation & prophetic Tradition:
It is concerned with the interpretation of the Qur'an and the study of the Hadith. Such as analytical interpretation - objective interpretation - the origins and rules of interpretation - and the intruder in interpretation. And the general sciences of hadith: such as analytical hadith, study of chains of transmission and graduation, history of the Sunnah.
The Study at the College:
The college follows a credit-hour system, where students are awarded a bachelor’s degree upon the completion of 142 credit hours. To support both the academic and research endeavors, the college provides a range of services, including:
- A specialized library containing references and sources in Islamic sciences.
- Computer labs and smart classrooms.
- Specialized halls for distance education.

- Open a file for each student who has a certificate of proof of disability issued by the Public Authority for People with Disabilities.
- Providing a writer for students who are unable to write for all tests.
