Kuwait University has announced its winter vaccination campaign for the third consecutive year in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. It has called upon all its students and staff to participate in the vaccination against contagious winter diseases, in order to protect individuals and the community.

The Head of the Infectious Diseases Control Department at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hamad Bastaki, stated that in light of the ongoing coordination between Kuwait University, represented by the Security and Safety Department, and the Ministry of Health, according to the agreed-upon protocol to establish a communication channel to enhance the principle of community partnership in all areas that contribute to raising health awareness among members of the university community and ensuring the safety of our students, both male and female, as well as all university staff and visitors, preparations have been made to launch the "Winter Vaccination" campaign for the second consecutive year at Kuwait University before the onset of winter. This aims to protect citizens, especially students, from respiratory winter diseases, to reduce the incidence rates of seasonal winter illnesses (such as influenza and pneumonia), and to mitigate complications associated with these diseases, particularly among high-risk groups. Additionally, it aims to decrease hospital admissions due to winter illnesses, which in turn reduces the occupancy rates in hospitals and intensive care units.

It is worth noting that the vaccination is available to everyone, especially for those most vulnerable to respiratory winter diseases and chronic illnesses in general, as well as for all university staff and visitors to prevent various diseases and viruses (such as influenza and pneumonia, among others). The vaccine is highly effective in preventing the disease and its complications, particularly among high-risk groups such as the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, or those with weakened immune systems. Therefore, we urge and advise all members of the university community to receive vaccinations to safeguard public health and safety.

Kuwait University has designated several locations (in university clinics distributed across different colleges) to administer the vaccine, and many vaccination centers will be opened at Kuwait University facilities, as has been done every year, to meet the needs of students and staff.

The Ministry of Health, represented by the Public Health Department, extends its sincere gratitude to the administration of Kuwait University for its active contribution to the success of the winter vaccination campaign for the third consecutive year. The Ministry calls upon all students and staff to cooperate with the university administration in participating in the vaccination against contagious winter diseases, in order to protect individuals and the community from the risks posed by these illnesses.
